The Hawkes Bay region on New Zealand's North Island is one of my favorite parts of the country. It has beautiful rolling hills and a temperate climate that favors horticulture leading to its nickename as "The Fruit Bowl of New Zealand". It was also the cradle of what has become a huge wine industry in New Zealand.
