Great Blue Heron

This great blue heron makes its home at the San Joaquin marsh in Irvine, CA. The marsh is a short walk from my home, and most weekends I walk over there in the hope of getting some nice shots of the bird life. Today was my lucky day, finding this handsome guy taking a break on top of a nesting box intended for other birds.

I also got another shot of him after he took flight as can be seen below. A lucky day indeed.
