Semi-Finalist for 2010 International Juried Photography Competition

Harpy Eagle
Semi-Finalist 2010 International Photographers Contest
Purchase Harpy Eagle Print
I got notification today that my image of a Harpy eagle that I submitted to the 2010 International Photographers Contest was selected by the judge as one of the 45 semi-final photographs to be exhibited in the Artists Haven Gallery - IPC Exhibition. More than 1500 images were submitted by over 200 photographers from around the world. I entered my artwork in the Animals/Mammals/Birds/Wildlife category.

I just ordered a framed print of the Harpy from Imagekind to be sent to the Artists Haven Gallery for the “Best of Category” judging. If chosen as best of category it will then be in consideration for 1st, 2nd , or 3rd Place Winner in the overall competition. The final winners will be announced at the Reception & Awards presentation on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Artists Haven Gallery. My print will remain on exhibit at the gallery from October 15 through November 7, 2010.

Wish me luck!

Two Awards in the 2009 International Aperture Awards

Oh, what a surprise! I just got an email from the organizers of the International Aperture Awards 2009 contest that two of my three entries merited an award, one silver and one bronze! Not good enough to win any of the loot though. :-(

Saguaro cactus - Silver Award International Aperture Awards 2009The silver award with an average score of 82/100 from the five judges was given for this picture of a saguaro cactus taken just out of Scottsdale which I entered for the Landscape Division.

I hurriedly worked on it to meet the entry deadline the day after getting back from my jaunt to Sedona over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Prints of this saguaro cactus with various finishes are available at my Imagekind store.

Lesli - Bronze Award International Aperture Awards 2009The bronze award with 80 points was given for my photo of Lesli which I entered for the People and Portrait Division.

This photo is available for purchase at my Imagekind store here: Pin-up Girl Print

Saguaro at sunsetMy third entry was this photo of saguaro cacti at sunset which I entered for the Landscape Division. It got 69 points overall.
