I planted a buddleia bush in my garden to attract and provide nectar for butterflies. In fact the common name for the buddleia is "butterfly bush" such is its reputation at attracting butterflies. But all summer long this bush has been home to a praying mantis, grasshoppers, and katydids. (Photo of grasshopper on the same bush).
I published the first photo of the praying mantis on July 21st when it was about the size of the tip of my pinkie finger. Having spent the entire summer and autumn enjoying these tasty flowers today it straddles the flowers like some great colossus.
