I took this photo on a trip to New Zealand in 2007 in the Southland region between Te Anau and Queenstown. I like the way the photo is framed in the foreground by the barbed-wire fence. It adds interest and a little shock-value. It was early autumn in this alpine region that has hot dry summers so the grass was dry and golden much like it gets here in California. The clouds are interesting too; notice how they seem to be closing in on a vanishing point in the center of the photo. All in all it was a lucky setup.
