Bird of Paradise flower on black background with Orton effect.
Someone told me this is "very 1980s - very colorful". I guess that means I need to do a contemporary version that isn't so colorful...?
By the way, just in case you thought I took this photo with the flower on a black background with fancy lighting, that was not the case. It took me about 90 minutes to isolate the flower from its background. Yes, I'm nuts, obsessive, whatever you want to label me. Go ahead!

I like the effect! I wish I could get my flower pictures to pop with color like yours do. Great work!
I would like to add your site to my Favorites, hope that's ok.

Hi Mike
I very much appreciate your comments, and thanks for adding my site to your favorites on your blog.
Salam,
Maybe this post is a bit old but I wish to inform you that you can use Fluid Mask, an awesome plugin for photoshop to cut anything from it's original picture & it would be perfect for your cutted flowers.
Have a look: http://www.vertustech.com/fm_gallery.htm
Have a great journey and thanks for that beautiful picture.

As a native of Southern California, Bird of Paradise flowers have ALWAYS been my absolute favorite. I used your picture as inspiration for my newest tattoo...it came out beautifully! Thanks for sharing your talent. Mach1
