A Dose of Capybara Cuteness to Brighten Your Day

Sometimes the internet delivers a piece of pure, unexpected joy — and today, that joy comes in the form of a capybara ready for its ballet debut.

A whimsical digital illustration of a very happy capybara with an open-mouth smile, standing on its hind legs while wearing a fluffy pink ballet tutu against a plain background.

Known as the chillest animal on the planet, the capybara is famous for its serene demeanor and its uncanny ability to befriend just about every other creature. But what happens when this icon of calm decides to trade a quiet soak for a spirited plié?

You get this: a masterpiece of whimsy. This tutu-wearing trailblazer is a perfect reminder to embrace the silly, find your own rhythm, and dance like nobody's watching — even if you're a giant rodent built more for lounging than for leaping.

So the next time you feel like you don't quite fit the mold, just remember this capybara. Put on your own proverbial pink tutu, whatever that may be, and let your happy spirit shine.

Perhaps there's a little princess in your family who would love some stickers of this Tutu Cute Capybara?

Before and After: Two Joshua Tree Photographs, Two Painterly Reworkings

I want to try something a little different in this post — a working walk-through of how two of my Joshua Tree photographs from April of 2011 became two of my newest painterly artworks on Redbubble. Same compositions, same landscape, same afternoon in the Mojave. Very different final pieces. The Raw Photographs Both photographs were taken on a single afternoon trip to Joshua Tree National Park, shot in Canon raw (.CR2) format on my Canon EOS. Raw files are, as any photographer knows, deliberately flat — they carry the maximum amount of information the sensor recorded, without any of the punchy contrast, saturation, or sharpening that a JPEG would apply automatically in-camera. That flatness is a feature: it gives the photographer the widest possible latitude to make choices in post-processing. But it also means a raw file, straight out of the camera, doesn't look like the scene the eye remembers. It looks like the scene the sensor saw, drained of atmosphere. Here are the two r...
