Snowy San Gabriel Mountains

I took this photo of the Snowy San Gabriel Mountains from close to my home in Irvine, CA. The view is looking north across the San Joaquim marsh. If you're familiar with the area, this is right at the northwestern edge of the U.C. Irvine campus. We were blessed with a week of rain off and on. The remarkable thing this last weekend was that despite stormy nights on both Friday and Saturday, both Saturday and Sunday mornings dawned brilliantly fine and sunny as you can see in this photo. With a bit of luck we'll get some more rain through February as once we get into March, the chances of rain fall fast and we are still in a drought. Last winter we had practically no rain at all, so this is the first decent rain we've had in two years, and the hills around Souhern California have turned green. We are in for a great show of wildflowers in the spring!
