Just kidding; it's actually a ring that suspends one of the hummingbird feeders, and this "big" little guy who thinks he owns it all discovered this was the best place of all to be to dive-bomb any other hummers that presumed to drink from "his" feeder.

This MacGillivray's Warbler flew into the glass slider onto my patio one morning with a very loud crack. The poor guy died on the spot. I found it quite upsetting to see such a beautiful bird die like that. Something moved me to take a photo so I lay his head on a pillow of lavendar and took his photo. As I rode my bike to work that morning I couldn't but help think about him, and I wrote this poem in my thoughts as I rode. along the river.

Secretary Bird - The legend goes that this odd-looking bird got it's name because of the quills stuck behiind his ears, but the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park website states that it is now believed that the name is from the Arabic saqr-et-tair, or “hunter bird.”
