The Real Digial Divide (do-not-disconnect)
nil
It was common a few years ago when the internet was first becoming common in American homes to speak of the "digital divide". This was a reference between the "haves" and "have-nots" in access to the internet. However, for me the real digital divide comes from personal electronics, starting with the Sony Walkman way back in the 1970s, and really exploding with the introduction of the iPod in October 2001. To me all this electronic gadgetry and wizardry is the real digital divide, separating us from each other. Just take a look around you on any train, bus, or treadmill at the gym. Does anyone else see a fly in the ointment here, or is just me? Labels: artistic
